Joan Benson is a Montreal family lawyer. She studied political science at McGill University before entering law school at the Université de Montréal. In 1980 she graduated from the Faculté de Droit de l’Université de Montréal with a degree in civil law. In 1982 she studied at McGill University in the graduate faculty of comparative law.
Extensive Law Experience
She began her career as an articling student in 1981 with the firm of Ogilvy Renault. She has been a member of the Québec Bar since 1981.
After completing her articling she took a position with the Banque Nationale de Paris. However, in 1982 she returned to private practice and has continued to represent individuals before the court to this day.
West-Island Family Lawyer
In addition, Joan Benson has been a community volunteer promoting access to justice. For over 15 years she has spearheaded a legal clinic at the West island community resource centre in suburban Pointe Claire. Prior to this, Joan Benson acted in a similar capacity at the Montréal YWCA.
Joan Benson has represented individuals before all levels of courts. Her practice encompasses a varied and extensive amount of trial experience.
